SCECS is pleased to share with our community the recently endorsed Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) developed for the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney.
At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians (Reconciliation Australia).
Based around the core pillars of relationships, respect and opportunities, RAPs have the capacity to contribute to tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, increasing economic equity and supporting First Nations self-determination. Over the coming year we will take forward our commitments in this Reflect RAP and you can read a full copy of our Archdiocesan Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan here.
This new foundational document presents a wonderful opportunity for Sydney Catholic Early Childhood Services to go forward with our values of integrity, inspiration, intentionality and joy in setting the vision for our own RAPs across our directorates and services. Together we can work to heal the wounds of the past and promote positive and respectful relationships with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters.
